National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization that recognizes high school students for their excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Founded in 1921, it encourages students to uphold strong academic performance while also engaging in meaningful community service and demonstrating positive leadership. Membership in NHS is considered a prestigious honor, and students are selected based on their academic achievements, commitment to helping others, and ability to act as role models in their schools and communities.

To be eligible, applicants must have at least 3.0 unweighted GPA, no discipline issues and minimal absences.

To be considered, you must submit your completed application with all of the following items in the order listed below:

A signed application agreement.

A signed membership agreement.

A typed essay 250-500 words in length. Click here for directions on how to complete the essay: NHS Application Essay.

Two teacher recommendation forms (one from a Math or Science teacher and one from an English or History teacher).
